A girl walks out of the burning east gate with hair like live coals and no memory of who set the fire. The ember-born were supposed to be a myth. Vesper is about to find out what happens when a myth wants revenge. Told from multiple points of view across all four houses, this installment pushes the treaty closer to collapse and introduces the players who will define the next arc of the saga.
